2x6Apps is proud to be affiliated with Project:IDWIL which is the creation of one of our founders, Jake Simon. Project:IDWIL is basically going to be a site like TED.com in that it is a searchable video catalog that will inspire people. The main difference is that where TED is “Ideas Worth Spreading,” IDWIL is about inspiring people to align their values/motivations/passions with what they do for a living.
2x6Apps is a good example of IDWIL at work – our two founders created the app development company for one iOS app, FavorIt. Jake’s passion for connecting friends with cool, fun, and tailored media was the basis fo the concept and Doug’s passion for entrepreneurship and creating products that solve people’s common problems was what allowed FavorIt to be built.
2x6Apps is happy to announce that Favorit – Where Favorite Friends and Favorite Apps Meet has been updated to version 1.2.
We have updated the user interface for a more pleasing overall style. This can be immediately seen in the updated title screen, overall color scheme, and buttons. More importantly, we have fixed little bugs “under the hood” and changed servers. This may be a little ‘TMI’ for most, so we are happy to say that these fixes will increase the performance of the app regarding speed and responsiveness.
We encourage anyone who hasn’t installed the update to do so. The techy part that I mentioned about changing servers? Well, that means that if you are on the new version and a FavorIt friend of your’s is still on the old version, then you will be disconnected until both of you are updated. So, it would behoove you to persuade your friend to update.
Here are some screenshots (because what blog post isn’t made better by some images, right?)
At first glance, one might think FavorIt just helps people find apps. I think that part is pretty clear. Extrapolating that can get you to understand that this benefits the savvy users by helping them find hidden gems or even just see if “that app they heard about is worth the download” as well asthe person who just got an iPhone and doesn’t know where to begin when it comes to these “apps” that everyone talks so incessantly about.
One overlooked aspect that is important to where FavorIt was born from is not in the finding of apps, but the sheer joy of “wearing the apps we love like badges.” I would direct you to our blogs in order to really latch on to that idea.
However, a great thing that FavorIt brings to the table is a truly evened out playing field for all of the app developers out there who are trying to get noticed. There are no ads to compete with and no difficult search engine optimization tactics to have to learn. If you make a killer app, whether as a hobbyist who knows how to write great code or a huge company working tirelessly, the users of your app can list it a one of their FavorIts. When they share this info with their friends (people who know and trust them), then you get free endorsements 24/7/365. This truly puts the model of “the cream rising to the top” into action. As the FavorIt community grows, so will the recognition of your app. With FavorIt, your future users won’t have to search for you – you will be recommended from a trusted source…your icon will be in their hands just waiting to be downloaded!
So Devs out there, here is where I provide a call to action:
Make great apps
Help us spread the word about FavorIt
We love the open environment in which great apps can come from anywhere and not only do we love to find and use them, we love to promote them and give credit where credit is due. We appreciate your help and think that we can help you.
